Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and television actress who is known for her role as the fiery lawyer Teri Joseph in the Showtime show Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe is her new name after she married. Her acting talent was evident from childhood. In a Maryland high school contest gave her the best actress award. In addition to her work as a theater actress and in the ballet company, she was also a part of 'The Washington Ballet Company.' She received an acting degree from New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love brought her a top-quality role. This was followed by movies including 'Boogie nights Spark' and Blue Streak. Contractor, a Mumbai-born Indian and who was a resident of Nigeria from the time she was just seven years old. She was well-versed in world cultures and traveling in such a short time. From the age of seven until nine, Contractor was a student at boarding schools in London. Her family then moved to Toronto which she stayed in throughout her early years. Contractor was a classical ballet student in Toronto. She was also a star academically. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, an arts school that focuses on theatre and dance. Contractor was 16 when she realized that performing would be her future career. Dance was her passion for over a decade. Following her graduation from high school Contractor received a scholarship from the University of Toronto to pursue an undergraduate degree in sociology and psychology. In addition, she obtained a Master's degree in Theatre. After one semester at the University, Contractor went to an open audition for the show Pericles in the highly regarded famous, world-class Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and landed the role of lead. In 2002, Canadian theater critics were awed by her performance in 92 performances of the play. The actor was invited to enroll in Stratford's conservatory program, where the top eight men and four females are selected for a course lasting 20 weeks in classical theatre, which she eagerly took. The actor's involvement in the upcoming season's production was confirmed. She was cast in the role of Hermia from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
